Change to Monthly Board of Directors Meetings
The James Madison Charter Academy Board of Directors has decided to change the time of all public board meetings to 6:30 pm. The change will begin starting with the August meeting. The location has not changed; meetings will still be held @ JMCA in the multi-purpose room.

Twitter and Facebook
In an effort to keep up with changing times, and seeking ways to improve our communication with the public; JMCA is in the process of setting up Twitter and Facebook accounts. Make sure to keep looking for those familiar emblems on our website in the upcoming weeks.

SAFARICARE “BLUE BAG” PROJECT
Mrs. McCulloch’s 3rd and 4th grade class participated in the Safari Club International’s “Blue Bag” Project as part of their study of ancient Africa last spring. They decided to help the people of modern Africa by collecting supplies needed for the children in the villages of the Luangwa Valley in eastern Zambia. JMCA’s principal, Dr. Shearer-Shineman (“Dr. S”), traveled there this summer and personally delivered the items to two schools and one clinic. The local people were extremely excited to receive the items. They were impressed that the students would take on this project. They asked that Dr. S express their deep appreciation for providing much needed supplies. The villages are in remote areas and have difficulty obtaining even the most basic goods. Thank you to the students and all the parents who donated to this most worthy project.

FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITIES

Believe Fundraiser

The Believe fundraiser begins on August 27 and continues until September 10, 2010. Please see Mrs. Tryggestad or Mrs. Smith for additional information.

Remember to donate your Coke Rewards points

JMCA Families, Friends and Supporters,

The JMCA Board of Directors have found an "online gadget drive" to raise funds for our school and we would appreciate your support.

A gadget drive is a way to fund raise that turns your used electronics (laptops, cell phones, MP3 players, digital cameras & more) into cash. Contributing to our drive is simple. Visit http://www.jmcaboardforourchildren.gazelle.com, find the value of the gadgets you would like to donate, and send them to Gazelle (shipping is free). The funds will go to support Empowering our Students.

If you would like to learn more about the drive and track its progress, visit the website. You will receive a confirmation of any donation you make by email.

 Thank you for your support
